In partnering with ILed and Digital Twin we have provided innovative solutions to our client at the
University of Johannesburg by installing IoT Pigeons to their critical laboratories, fridges and
freezers on campus. The IoT Pigeons that have been installed use the mod-bus interface built in
for local temperature and alarm display as well as high and low alarm limit reporting. The pigeons
are configured to report conditions within the product design factors inside the fridges and freezers,
resulting in effective response time and action in preventing loss of expensive product during
failures such as system failure, load shedding and generators trips.
The Pigeons installed at the University of Johannesburg campus have played a instrumental part
in monitoring and trending critical data and conditions of various fridges and freezers that have
product used for scientific and medical research. The Pigeons have allowed for early warning and
preventative measure put in place in enabling information sent to offsite staff and practitioner’s via
e-mail and SMS of critical conditions effecting the freezers and fridges on campus.
